The main reason why cigarettes become addicting is the chemical called nicotine. According to a study conducted by scientists from Harvard University, the nicotine content of cigarettes from these manufacturers has increased by 11 percent from 1997 to 2005.
Aside from nicotine, cigarettes contain thousands of other chemicals. Examples of these chemicals are the following:
